PEOPLE SAY THE NICEST THINGS
Cerulean blue reaches out and snatches in its hands the azure green of the sea and illuminates it so deftly that the eye sees deeper blues reflecting ancient history —capped by the frothiest green as the wave explodes towards the shore. When it comes to my favorite artists ? I am compelled by those who discern light which is about to change , a stern blue creating in to deep flip into luminescent green , and seemingly without effort, paint the natural and exciting story. Of life itself. As found in one moment or as created by the restless inner vision which pours out thru hands to brush. Deborah Leonard is one such artist. Whether plein air , ideas themselves or more abstract work, she simply is unmatched. More simply ? Some of her work drives me crazy. I think great art and great artists create an insatiable need to continually revisit their pieces. This is my experience with Debbie Leonard. A piece continually magnetizes the viewer.

Christmas for me was special this year because I received an original Deborah Leonard painting. The painting features an ocean view with clouds that float in the sky. I live in Myrtle Beach, SC and, when I look at my painting at home, it reminds me of our ocean that we greatly enjoy when we take our dogs for a beach walk. Deborah’s interpretation of beauty is “right on.” She is one of my favorite artists!

When you commission a painting you have a vision of what the artist will create, but the artist must not only paint, but embrace the vision, love and emotion which inspired the painting. Deb embraced the vision and emotion that inspired our painting and painstakingly revised details we wished to be a part of the final product. We were extremely please with our painting and had fun with Deb melding our vision with her talent.

I have know Debbie Leonard for more than 50 years and have watched her talent develop into the master artist that she is today. Debbie’s inspiration comes from the beauty of the earth and her own spiritual guidance. I am honored to own several Leonard original paintings which are lovingly and proudly displayed in our home.

Pascal suggested that in difficulty times we should keep something beautiful in our hearts. I think of Deborah Leonard’s paintings as the portal between here and the infinite, a visual story-telling of beauty, serenity and the ultimate mystery. Her styles are as varied as her heart is wide. Some take the breath away. Some invite you to linger longer and longer into the night. They fill me with grace and awe, wonder and delight. What else is there to say? Except I have the most celestial and spiritual one in our most sacred space. You will have to ask her which one this is and unlock that mystery for yourself!

Beautiful, love the softness!
Deb, I so enjoy seeing your paintings. I have many of them hanging in my home and they bring me such joy to me each day. Your spirit is reflected in each and every painting.. the joy.. the love of nature.. and your creative eye for color, texture and light is amazing. The composition you created from a few of my photographs is incredible. You captured the feelings I had when I made the photos and were able to put it on canvas in a wonderful and sensitive fashion. You are truly gifted.
